Confederate statues
The attachment to the Confederacy by some Americans is misplaced loyalty. The Confederacy was fighting to retain slavery through States Rights. How can you justify that?? After the North won the Battle of Gettysburg and Vicksburg, Mississippi, Southern leadership knew the South couldn’t win the Civil War. Instead of negotiating an end to the war, they continued to fight until well over half of the south’s young white males had been killed. Only 219 of the original 6000 men who served under General ‘Stonewall’ Jackson survived the War.(1) Should Confederate Generals be honored for wasting thousands of lives on both sides?
We MUST put the Civil War behind us and put our energy into saving America for future generations – as the World War Two generation did. Runaway federal spending is obviously the number one issue. Additionally we must unite against America’s internal enemies. Some groups are obviously evil, like the Nazi Party, KKK, New Black Panthers and Nation of Islam. Other organizations do a certain amount of good but this is a cover for a bad agenda, such as La Raza, Black Lives Matter and CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations).
Confederate statutes on a Battlefield or museum must be preserved. Confederate statues in town squares, parks should be replaced with true heroes from the South. A partial list of Southern heroes:
Audie Murphy was from Texas.
North Carolina had 6 medal of honor winners in World War 2, one of them being Jack Lucas on Iwo Jima – just 5 days after his 17th birthday. He was the Youngest American in the 20th century to receive the award. North Carolina had 2 Medal of Honor winners in WW1.
Mississippi had 4 Medal of Honor winners in WW2 and three during the Korean War.
In 1926, Alabaman Waldo Semon invented PVC and that’s not all. Semon earned 116 patents over the course of his 100-year life.
No one could argue with statues of these people.
It’s time to FINALLY end the civil war.
