The Holy Rock of Islam is damaged!!

The Black Stone or Holy Rock of Islam is a revered Islamic relic embedded in the eastern corner of the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. According to Islamic tradition, the stone dates back to the time of Adam and Eve. The Black Stone was revered by pagan tribes prior to the establishment of Islam.

The Black Stone has suffered damage over the centuries due to attacks and desecrations.

In 683 AD: The Kaaba was besieged during a conflict between Umayyad forces and Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr. A catapult stone struck the Black Stone, causing fractures.

In 930 AD, the Qarmatians, a Muslim sect, revolted against the Abbasid Caliphate. This revolt culminated in the sacking of Mecca and the capture of the sacred rock of Islam. It was taken to their stronghold in modern day Bahrain. In addition, the Qarmatians desecrated the Zamzam Well with corpses.

The sacred rock was returned to Mecca 23 years later in pieces as part of a peace treaty. It is now held together by cement.
